Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
This scripture is rather one of the most powerful scriptures to me, explaining the sacrifice and the heart posture that interests God.
The amplified version explains this scripture even more clearly. It says, “My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.” it explains in detail the broken spirit and a contrite heart.
Their not many things in scriptures that the bible says GOD does not despise but as for a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart; The bible says he cannot despise it.
David here goes further to say; This is the sacrifice that GOD desires. Your heart must be totally humble and filled with contriteness (sorrow for sin and a continual repent heart posture).
