1 Corinthians 9:24 [AMP] Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.
1 Corinthians 9:25 Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.
1 Corinthians 9:26 Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].
NEVER GET TO A PLACE THAT YOU FEEL, YOU HAVE ARRIVED.
Many people have stopped growing spiritually because they feel they have arrived. They feel powerful, They feel secured, They feel untouchable. Some have spiritually gotten to a place where you cannot preach to them anymore because they feel they know everything, Some cannot be able to receive prophecy anymore because they feel like GOD is now in their handbag, But in this Kingdom you never arrive until you’re crowned by the LORD JESUS HIMSELF.
Paul Said although I teach deep mysteries of the kingdom (that were not known and were hard to understand till today) yet after preaching to others, He Himself evaluate himself, if he’s way with GOD still be aligned. Which means he’s very much awear that I can become a very powerful bible teacher, yet at the end be a cast away. I can become a dangerous evangelist, yet at the end be a cast away, I can be a very dangerous Prophet yet at the end become a cast away. That’s why Paul teach us that for that very reason, There’s a life he’s living, consistently checking himself and aligning himself to the purposes and will of GOD.
You know, When you have a car, Every now and then, you take it for a service, Even if the car is well, you take it there because you’re very much awear that some problems might not be visible, so wanna be sure that you’re car is still in good condition. If that with a physical machinery, how more for our souls?
I know why we never do soul check ups, is because we don’t really take our souls that serious. We haven’t yet seen life from the lens of eternity.
We inquire from the LORD for many things but we never inquire for the condition of our souls because we don’t know the importance of it.
Paul said, “But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it…” see how he takes his soul so serious!.
